What is a research paper? A research paper is like a project. We have to do research and find information about our topic. It is different from essay we write before. An essay is just writing, including our feeling and opinions. Maybe it is just what we think about it. It is not based on real things. However, a research paper make us do research. That is why it called a research paper. So if we start to do research papers, we have to take time and go to library or surf the Internet.
A research paper looks like a detail about topic. For example, we do a research paper about chocolate. Our paper will contain what is it, when does it appear, how to make and eat it. It also involves its history. So a research paper has four parts. First, we have to write introduction about what we are going to write. Second, we can start about what you had found. We can mention the information about thesis’ story. Third, it is a part where we can reveal your feeling. After doing a research, we will have some new opinions about what we do. At the beginning, we just know the surface of it. But after that? We will have deeper understand about it. Finally, it is important. We have to write about where we find our information. If you use other’s word, we have to write down the source as well. Our paper will be completed.
To understand our topic, we will need many steps to do it. We have to read a lot of books, doing market survey, etc. That helps we understand it well. And it can also let we have more information about our topic. I also learn we have to notice about the format that context required. So these are what I have learned. I hope my group can do a well project.

1. What is a research paper? 

A research paper is not like an essay. For example, an essay can write anything you want to write, but a research paper you should make sure that your papers is truth. So you need to do research to let reader believe that your research is true. You may gather information from book, internet, interview someone, etc. And you have to check your information with no errors, so you need to look over the data that you had. In order to make your research more clear and easy to understand, you need to synthesize all your information into one paper.
2. What elements does it contain?

There are six parts in this project learning. The first part is to introduction the main idea of this project. The second is to tell us their motivation why they want to research this. The third data analysis, if you don’t have a statistic, people won’t believe you. You need to show them some dates, and they will convince by numbers. And then you need to sum up your research. So you need to have a conclusion. It’s the most important part, you spent one year to get this result. After your project finished, you should put your references on your project. It’s important to show us where your information comes from. Of cause you can put some appendixes on the bottom of the project.
3. What basic knowledge or skill do you need when writing it?

In order to have more background about this project, we need to read a lot of articles. In this project, they use many dates to tell us whether student should wear uniform. They even interview a student from Canada. Then they research the student whether they want to wear uniform which design by themselves. They give reader a lot of numbers and pie charts to clearly convince us. It’s a good idea to let people understand their project.

We are LISAMY. This is our name of Project Learning. Our names combine our English name. One is Lisa, and the other is Amy. The following are our introductions.
My name is Lisa. It is a name called by my English teacher in kindergarten. My Chinese name is Wen-Hui-Chen. I am seventeen years old. My birthday is on October twenty first, so I am a Libra. My hobbies are listening to music and traveling. When I listen to the music, I feel myself come down. I love to travel. That helps me relax myself. I also like to eat desserts. My English is not good enough, but I like English very much. I hope my English is getting better and then I can complete all of my dreams.
My name is Ai-Min Chen. I was born in June 3, 1993. My hobbies is playing badminton, and photography. Also, I have a dream. It is to be a backpacker to travel around the world with my camera. I want to take a great number of pictures. I don’t care about whether the pictures are prefect or not. That I really care is what the pictures bring to me. Then, I will collect them in a book with some of my reflection. I will take notes on my book, and record the place where I had been and things what had happened in my trip. Now, I have a plan. If I graduate from university, I will go backpacking travel to England with my friends. For this plan, I do my best to have a good ability in English. Also, I need to earn money and save it at the bank. That is one of reason I study English, and for this plan I will do my best.
Our research topics are Lomo camera, dolphins and chocolates. Why do we want to choose these three topics? First, Amy is very interesting in LOMO camera. She wants to share it to everyone. Second, dolphins have high intelligence as 7 years old child. Third is also the last, chocolates are not only can be eat but also can become lot kinds of things. And these can cure a broken or sad heart. So we choose these three topics. We hope we can find a lot of fun in our Project Learning.
